Creating a vector graphic
How do I create a vector graphic?
Step 1: Choose a vector graphics program.
To create a vector graphic, you need suitable software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW or Inkscape. If you have never worked with such a program before, we recommend starting with Inkscape as it is free and has many features.
Step 2: Open a new document.
Open your chosen vector graphics program and create a new document. Make sure the size of the document matches the dimensions of the object.
Step 3: Create your vector graphic.
Use the program's various tools and features to create your vector artwork. Use lines, curves, shapes, and other elements to create the design you want to cut.
Importing photos or jpg, png, graphics does not make sense here as they do not consist of vectors (individual parts).
Step 4: Review your file.
Once you're done with your vector art, you'll want to make sure it's formatted correctly. Check that all lines, curves and shapes are closed to ensure it can be cut completely. Also check that the file is saved in the correct format (usually .ai, .dxf, .cdr, or .svg).
Step 5: Export your file.
Export your vector graphics file in the correct format. Typically this is a file in vector format such as .ai, .dxf, .cdr, .svg or .eps.
Step 6: Once the file is created and exported, simply send it to us for review. We look at whether the file is suitable for laser engraving or laser cutting.
